Local and national carvers and artists of all kinds exhibit and sell their works.  Awards are given in various categories including the Curtis Merritt Award of Excellence given to the artist who demonstrates the highest standards of "creativity, character and overall goodness" as voted on by the other exhibitors.  Best Carver and Best Artist are chosen by People's Choice and the Best Photograph of Chincoteague or Assateague is chosen by the committee.  Wooden Easter Eggs decorated by the exhibitors are offered in a silent auction and a live auction of donated works culminates the show.
