Janet Hong

Janet was raised in rural Pennsylvania where she learned to enjoy nature at an early age while exploring the woods around her.  She began art lessons in high school and continued to paint while devoting much of her time to her job and raising four children.  She eventually moved to Virginia and now resides in Chesapeake.
Acrylic on canvas is her preferred medium, but Janet also uses watercolors and oils.
She has won Best in Show, Purchase Awards and numerous second place awards throughout her career.

2011Winner
Best Photograph of
Chincoteague or Assateague
Ken Conger

Ken developed an interest in photography at an early age.  He retired in 2008 after spending over 30 years in conservation enforcement as a Park Ranger and Game Warden.   His passion for wildlife photography then took center stage and photo excursions have taken him all over the United States, Scotland and Africa.
The photo that earned him the 2011 Best Photograph of Chincoteague or Assateague is of the snowy owl who makes a rare appearance this far south once every few years.  He was fortunate enough to be on Assateague Island when the snowy owl perched atop a sand dune for a rest.
